For 3 hours every day, over 5 days, students will gain an early introduction to VCE Greek. They will find out from our expert teachers exactly what to expect in VCE in terms of their assessments and what each assessment will aim to evaluate.
Each day of the series is going to focus on a different aspect of the VCE Modern Greek Curriculum.
DAY #1 – Monday 21st of January 2019 – VCE Greek Study Design [Duration 3 hours]
On the first day, students will have the opportunity to hear our expert teacher unfold the current VCE Greek Study Design. The Learning Goal of this Masterclass is for students to understand the expectations and demands of the current VCE Greek Study Design. 2019 is the last year of the current Study Design as 2020 will bring the introduction of a new one. It is therefore crucial that students have a clear picture of the expectations of the current Study Design during its last year in effect.✅ Current VCE Study Design and Proton Notes Provided
DAY #2 – Tuesday 22nd of January 2019 – Essay Writing [Duration 3 hours]
The second day of the series is going to concentrate on essay writing.
We will be covering the most common text types we see in VCE exams and SACs as well as the 5 writing styles assessable under the current Study Design. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to work on idea development and structure.✅ Proton Essay Writing Materials Provided
DAY #3 – Wednesday 23rd of January 2019 – Grammar (Verbs) [Duration 3 hours]
The third day of the series is going to focus on grammar and in particular the use of verbs. 
The Learning Goal of this Masterclass is for students to understand the difference between voices and tenses and to be able to apply them. Over the past decade, VCE Examination Reports have identified that students who sit the VCE Greek exam face difficulties with their grammar and, in particular, tense agreement and the use of passive voice. The Masterclass will explore these phenomena and students will have the opportunity to get a better understanding of them.

DAY #4 – Thursday 24th of January 2019 – Grammar (Nouns & Adjectives) [Duration 3 hours]
The fourth day of the series will also focus on grammar and in particular the use and agreement of adjectives and nouns. The Learning Goal of this Masterclass is to understand the differences of each case and how adjectives and nouns can form and agreement with each other. For more than a decade, VCE Examination Reports have identified adjective and noun agreement as one of the most common mistakes students make in their exam. The Masterclass will explore these phenomena and students will have the opportunity to gain a better understanding of them.

The fifth and last day of the series will be concentrating on Exam Writing Skills.
The Learning Goal of this Masterclass is for students to identify the skills that exams require and appreciate their importance. On the last day of #HEADSTART students will be sitting an exam in order to see what sitting an assessment under examination conditions is like. At the end of the exam, students will be provided with an analysis of the exam as well as tips and tricks they can use during VCE when writing assessments or when sitting the exam.

This week, Proton teachers had the opportunity to participate in a professional development seminar on “visible learning”; the theory by John Hattie (2012) that students are more likely to be invested in their learning, if they perceive learning to be feasible, accessible and attainable.
